Senior Backend Engineer / Technical Lead – Insurtech

We're partnering with an ambitious, fast-growing Insurtech building the next generation of insurance technology, with agentic AI becoming a core part of its future platform. You’ll have genuine technical ownership, working on complex backend systems that underpin real-world insurance workflows rather than maintaining legacy software. Responsibilities
- Design, develop and maintain scalable C#/.NET backend services and APIs
- Own significant areas of day-to-day backend engineering and technical delivery
- Build integrations with internal and third-party systems
- Develop services within orchestration and workflow layers
- Contribute to backend architecture and technical decisions
- Deliver roadmap initiatives and support the evolution towards an agentic platform
- Maintain high standards across code quality, testing, deployment and performance
- Work closely with Product, Underwriting and Data teams
- Mentor junior engineers and share technical best practice
Requirements
- 7 years + commercial backend engineering experience
- Strong C#/.NET development skills
- Strong experience designing and developing APIs and backend services
- Experience with distributed systems, integrations and backend architecture
- Practical Microsoft Azure / cloud-native experience
- Strong understanding of testing, CI/CD, code review and modern engineering practices
- Comfortable working independently in a fast-moving product environment
- Strong communication and collaborative problem-solving skills
- Experience mentoring or supporting other engineers
- Insurance, Insurtech, fintech or complex enterprise technology experience desirable
- Exposure to AI, agentic systems or AI-enabled workflows desirable, but not essential
